If you're able to set the VPI/VCI coordinates to 8/35, you should be good to go. » AT&T Midwest/Ameritech FAQ » How do I browse into Alcatel 1000 set-up web page?Do you know if the modem is a bridge modem or a router? |

If you do have trouble, it may be a result of the modem usage of the PPPoA (PPP over ATM) protocol. BS/AT&T utilizes PPPoE (ethernet).

P2E PPPoA should STILL work with Bellsouth DSL, though I've had problems connecting with PPPoA ever since I was switched to ADSL2. Not big deal for me though. |

Should work but remember to see the FAQ's for this forum if you cannot obtain sync. Look for lineswapper as some 1000's where built for a line two operation.

I've got one at work and it works just fine with the 3 meg service. It's going on 9 years old I think. |

well it would work, but your going to get a slow connection. your not going to get what you pay for. and you might have to call tech support for that specific soft ware for that modem. how old is that? try amazon or ebay westell 6100 i think is there new one |

Got mine in 99. Had to switch out after upgrading to 6.0. I didn't want to stop using it but my speed stayed at around 3.0 . After a week or so of tweakin' n searchin' I gave in and had the Westell sent out. I still keep ithe 1000 around. I have one of those green stingray style Alcatels, never used in deference to the 1000. |

you can actually call in and tell tech support that you 're still using that stingray...ATT will then offer to replace that for free with a westell or netopia provided you send it back...no prob as they send you a prepaid sticker for UPS.... |

They aren't gonna ask you to send the old one back. It's paid for and a piece of garbage to them, just recycle it. |
