Despite some of the horror stories, I'm VERY happy with BellI've been a Sympatico high-speed customer since 2003 and I have generally nothing but good things to say about them.
I just moved for the first time during my subscribing to Bell (landline and DSL) from the Queen Street East/Broadview area to the Beaches.
At my old address I had a SNR of 7.0 to 8.0 and now in the Beaches, I'm getting 31.0! Can't complain about that improvement although I really didn't have any real problem with the worser SNR at my old place either. Still, the much improved SNR at my new address is noticeable (even when using my telephone!).
Bell activated my line on my requested "move date" by 8 AM - landline and DSL working perfectly!
A few days later, for some reason, my "profile" was changed from 5MB download to dial-up. Who knows why but Sympatico Tech Support sorted that out right away. When I called them I don't think the telephone even rang twice before they answered and my tech support rep, Danielle (not sure about the spelling), was efficient, courteous, friendly and resolved my problem right away.
I am a very satisfied Bell Sympatico customer! |

That's good news to hear!
How much notice did you give Bell that you were moving? I've noticed a trend: the more time you give Bell to complete the move the better the moving process is.
Enjoy you're high line stats. |

Indeed! Also, a thumbs up for this first-line technical support agent.

Re: Despite some of the horror stories, I'm VERY happy with BellIm also very happy... even if im not getting the full speed. But the people from Bell did everything to bring it to the max.
I was with Videotron... and after all the different increases I moved to Bell... Now I just took the Internet MAX @ 16Mbps.
But since im a little far from the CO the max im receiving is 12 Mpbs... But overall working pretty fast! |

I was happy with Sympatico when we had...Switched to Cogeco when we moved, which was about the same time Bell introduced the Axis of Evil to cripple Sympatico...Guess we got lucky. |

I'm not sure how shanks gets his 800k
but 740kbs is what you should get for 7mbps on dsl
general math: 7mbits/8bytesperbit * 85% = 743kb/s
If you check your connections speed you will see you should be connected at 7mbits.
I can only think maybe shanks is super lucky, used an inaccurate way to measure, on a faster profile or is not pppoe over atm(Ive seen a few company's offer this for extra money).
I am also not sure why you are saying "only negative crap like this happens to me" If you looked around on the forum you would realize there are a lot of people struggling to get 2mbits or they get 3 but its interleave. btw, your getting 7mbits...there is no comparison. |

My connection has been fine as well despite the horror stories from everyone else. I'm on the 5Mbps plan getting the right speeds. I'm still on the unlimited plan and showing no signs of any torrent throttling whatsoever. *knock on wood*
Only complaints are customer support could be a lot better and the price is high. |

It is nice when you get great service from a company I must admit.
You get lots of good service you become proud of the fact you are with said company.
If bell could turn there customer service as good as those those who sell product can do with a warranty. Then we'd all be happy. |

Well, it makes perfect sense. When half of their customers leave because they are getting bad service, they would be better able to manage their network. But most customers tend to be clueless about being ripped off. The people who come this forum represent a tiny tiny minority of users. The majority do not understand that they are not getting what they paid for. So John Doe might be happy that he has *A* service, and good customer service when he enters the lobster trap, but, in the end, he will end up on someone's dinner plate and won't know he was ripped off. |
