AT&T capped my DSL at 25KBs

its a new torrent thing which i rarely do unless i really need a file. is there anything i can do about this?
Besides going back to dial up i cant download anything over say 10 meg its so bad i cant even watch a streaming movie.
i talked to tech support "cough" a joke.
they said delete your cookies and i laughed they did not tell me the easy way ti do it in ie 7 i ask do you even use IE 7 ? any how i messed them up by jumping ahead and telling them i had disable my firewall and my antivirus.
i was reading about how comcast did this and people where using torrent with encryption like azureus. Is there any download managers that would get around this cap ? T.I.A.

i'm not sure what you are even asking about, but no, they are not shaping traffic based on the protocol or content you download. the issue lies elsewhere

Which service do you have? DSL Lite, Ultra, Extreme 3.0, Extreme 6.0? That will be a good place to start.

AT&T definatly does not due this. Your problem is something else, but you'll have to post mor einformation in order to get it resolved.

With dsl lite your not going to get a very good streaming video stream. Even bit-torrent won't get over 50-75k/sec. Try searching the net for bit-torrent tweaks. There is a file to download and tweak windows into letting your pc make more ip connections. Also, tweaking your torrent program to take advantage of this will surely help. But on the other hand getting a faster speed will help also.

I'd have to agree. 768 kbits is very sufficient for casual web browsing and the occasional youtube video (minus the probable buffer/wait times), but nothing intense.

Another thing to consider when running torrents on AT&T/BS FastAccess® DSL LITE is the paltry 128 kbps uplink sync speed, which will mean an actual max uplink speed of ~100 kbps. TCP is a half-duplex protocol, if you max out your uplink, everything will come to a standstill.
