[Wired] BEFW11S4 Drops Connection (3rd router)

I am using a Linksys BEFW11S4 but I am not using the wireless. I have a new Aris modem (with the phone jacks) trough Insight Cable and am not using USB. Both computers are running XP Pro SP2.

This is the 3rd router I have tried with the same result. Everything will be going nice and smooth then the connection just drops on both computers. It seems to happen about every 10-20 minute's. I have to power cycle the router and the connection comes right back. I have switched out all eithernet cables etc. This does not happen when connected directly to the modem.

Would it help if I posted some modem details from the diag page?

Please help me....

what were the other two routers you tried? Were they also Linksys? How do you have your router configured? Wireless on/off? Stay alive mode? does this happen when only one PC is connected also? Do you have the latest firmware installed and running on the router? That's a pretty old router have you tried a newer one?

All of the Router's are Linksys, the other two are quite a bit older than the one I am using now.

The wireless is off. Not sure about the stay alive mode.

One computer runs 27/7 so I don't know if it does it with just one computer on. I will find it though.

The firmware is up to date on all 3.

Are either of your PC's running P2P software like Bittorrent?

When you say the connection drops, do you really mean you lose the ability to access the internet from one or both PC's? Or do you lose your ethernet connection to the router? Can you access the router's configuration web page when the PC's "drop connection"?

Given that the router works well for 10-20 minutes and then just "stops" working, I usually suspect p2p software because it often gobbles up all the available NAT session table entries in the router, thereby preventing new connections to internet sites from going through. This makes it look like the router has stopped working. Rebooting the router clears the NAT session table and allows things to work again (until all sessions are gobbled up again).
