Would it be a good idea for all charter techs to have the same avatar? That way we know you guys are employees. |

I have been thinking about creating a web page for Charter Tech's or I guess people that work with Cable to share info and maybe help each other out with some problems. Where I live we are the first to try all kinds of things for our area. Just thought it might help to pass info around. Anyone else think this might help us? |

I can offer assistance to Pipeline users in all of Charter's Southern California systems, and the Reno, Nevada system (including South Lake Tahoe). |

What are ya doing to get ready for the MSN onslaught in a few months. |

I gotta give you guys credit for offering to answer questions in this forum.
Whats with the Charter/MSN relationship. Is there something more than meets the eye? Is Charter going to be a subsidiary for Uncle Bill's gaming network?
And for that matter, how are youz guys gonna handle the onslaught of X-box gamers when they get their online gaming up and running? There are going to be gazillions of these things wanting to go on line come next summer. I hope you are ready...cause those boys (me included) are going to be sucking some serious bandwidth. Its gonna be awesome. |

We have about 6 people going around sweeping the nodes and trying to solve some of the problem areas as far high noise levels go. We are also in the process of turning all of 10,000+ digital boxes to two-way boxes. |

I would think that would be great/ I was thinking the same thing. I am sure we could all learn something from eachother. Let's do it! |

"Working Techs" should IM Paladin and apply for membership into the Techs-only forum here on DSLR. Good place to carry on discussions with fellow broadband professionals. Paladin's forum is the forum with the most techs in it. It would not be a good idea for Charter techs to have the same avatar. DSLR doesn't endorse or license anyone's level of expertise here (even "celebrities" like Steve Gibson), so it would end up being misleading and impractical. Follow any advice at your own expense, even from presumed broadband professionals. Service Tech: "I have been thinking about creating a web page for Charter Tech's..." -- the DSLR Techs Forum opens the resource to all broadband techs, so you can share problems and advice with DSL and/or even cable techs from other companies. It's a good idea: just that because it's a private forum nobody really knows it's here. Bottom Line (for non-tech members): look, even if the help you get is from a legit Charter player, it's not guaranteed and certainly not backed by any protection from DSLR itself. So I wouldn't worry about who's who: take everything with a degree of skepticism and use 1. common sense, 2. trial and error, and 3. poll your peers. Even if no techs ever visited the forum, the three above would still help out in most dilemmas, IMO. |

Former @home tech. Now a pipeline tech in Spartanburg SC. Anyone else get the company issued flak vest? If the speed doesn't pick up soon, I will be back to the tv side of cable. |

Uncle Bill is partners with Paul Allen. Allen owns Charter. You did think the pipeline browser was going to be Netscape did you? |
