OSWave, Polling and PS2/NS2

I'm about to deploy a bunch of new POPs (currently using StarOS), and we have elected to only use PS2s and NS2s for all future CPE deployment. They are both apparently capable of running OSWAVE.

I've been thinking about switching to polling as I've heard its better when there is more interference from other 802.11 (no CSMA backoff) and that you can put more users on per AP with more even performance results (want to provide VOIP and better QOS overall).

Can anybody give me any info on OSWAVE and how well their polling works in your situation and what to expect in terms of users (we give 1.5m down/256k up) per AP on a 10mhz channel?

Also, does anyone know if OSWAVE will run on the IXP420/425 Intel Xscale platform (specifically the valemount boards as that's what I have deployed)?

Don't get me wrong, Star-OS if ok and perhaps I don't need polling at all but I figure if I'm doing a bunch of new POPs I want to do it with the latest and greatest (if that is indeed Oswave) so be as rock solid and future proof as possible and so far I've only heard good things about OSwave.

Hi Mark Oswave
currently will not run on the xscale platform I know it can but they have chosen not to support this with oswave firmware as that would undermine their current Osbridge products that are using xscale boards

Also Ow does not support the NS series yet
only PS2 and LS 2/5 so far

I have a thread requesting NS support on their forum so I think the more posts they receive about it the closer they will seriously consider it there is also a post regarding xscale support too

As for polling performance I haven't used it yet as I have no pops that are saturated enough to require it so I cant comment on how many clients one could reasonable expect from an OW polling AP hopefully someone else may have some experience with it
