Can't ping, traceroute, or vpn to my Shaw connectionI am trying to set up a pptp vpn endpoint inside my firewall. I can connect to it on my local network, and I have opened the ports through my firewall and forwarded them to the endpoint. But when I get out on the internet in public places I cannot connect to my Shaw ip address. I cant ping it even though my firewall is set to resond to ping. Traceroute gets as far as the first Shaw router and stops. Is Shaw known to filter incoming traffic on their residential network, or otherwise interfere with vpn connections?
Thanks. |

No shaw doesn't block any of that otherwise they would have a lot of business customers mad that they cant VPN. my old company had about 6 Shaw sites and we VPNed in using sonicwalls with no issues. |

Cableguy is correct. The only traffic blocked by Shaw is outgoing mail traffic on port 25 not traveling through the Shaw mail server. Other than that, there is some traffic shaping, but nothing that should cause the issues that you're seeing. |

Upon further investigation, it seems the pptp traffic is reaching my endpoint its the outgoing traffic that is not getting back to the client. I will re-examine my firewall settings.
Thanks for your help. |
