fanflicks posted : Newbie question : What ID / Password do i use when attempting to log into the modem's diagnostics screen?

What I've done today is unplug the router and have my PC plugged directly into the modem. As of this writing there are no drops. Before I did this i had drops all throughout the day where the lights on the modem are solid but no web page access available and the phone goes out. People can't hear me on the phone and then within seconds the connection with the phone drops.

Any chance that the wireless router is using the same channel as the modem? If this is the case what would you recommend for the router to use channel-wise? Thanks!

fanflicks posted : After a year with my current wireless router, the Linksys WRT54G router, we've been experiencing drops where the lights go away and all restart their cycle with the blinking until they solidify. The tech on the phone is blaming the router and after having 7 techs at the house since January, i am about to get rid of the router for a new one.

The line has been tested as being very good with no packet drops. The router is 6 feet away from the cable modem. So, any suggestions that if this is a router issue, which wireless router would you recommend? Thanks!
