Not sure why he was talking about matching MAC addresses if that's what he was trying to do. I thought in a previous posting he was talking about hooking up the server to the ONT's CAT-5, which is where that port would need to be a DHCP client. Okay... "never mind". :-)

Thats how it is now except there is a splitter in the coax that also connects to the coax port on the ont, so both the ethernet port and the coax port on the ont are being used right now where I only want the ethernet port being used..

tgreaves posted : FiOS got installed on Friday.. I did have some problems.. I released the DHCP from the router and then hooked the cat5e into my windows server machine but it wouldnt grab an ip address..

I have heard that the FiOS system might be bound to the mac address for the router.. If so how would I go about getting it to bind to the windows server mac address?

Also something else.. The installer tried to use only the cat5e to feed everything but that wouldnt allow the tv's to work.. He had to run the cat5e for the internet and the coax to the tv's.. The coax also runs up to the router along with the cat5e.. The "ethernet wan" light is lit on the router.. He called into FiOS support and they said that the coax from the ont need to go to the tv's and that the ethernet was only being used for VOD and things like that.. They said that the actual video for the tv's runs through the coax directly from the ont..

Any help here?????

birdfeedr posted : Unless you get an installer who can work with you, you may find it easier to let him set up ONT-(cat5)-->Actiontec (located same place as your Server2003 machine).
