Re: Canon 5D Mark II Price Increase - Canada

I think Canon is counting on existing customers to create the demand for this camera as it is not really entry level. Although other brands may outperform the Canon, users tend to be loyal, especially if they already have a significant investment in Canon equipment.

As for the economy, those that can't afford it shouldn't buy it. If demand is low, the price will drop accordingly.

My friend who works at one of the largest pro camera shops in Canada told me they had over 200 preorders before the price went up. At least 60 people have canceled their orders so far........eat that Canon

That is your opinion, mine differs. While not exactly entry level, it is not much beyond that really. It is basically a FF sensor in an entry level (feature/function wise) body. But I guess this why I would not, what I consider, waste my $$ on one, especially not at a higher price yet.

While I agree it may be smart business practice to basically molest the initial onslaught of buyers at an inflated price to make some quick cash and then lower the price to entice the rest of the market shortly after that initial onslaught. To me it shows a lack of concern on Canon's part for their clients.

I respect your opinion, but do me the courtesy and respect mine as well. No use arguing as it is not in any way going to remotely influence my opinion, just as mine will not yours. No use clouding the thread up with bickering, already been done.
