Just right now I uncapped! Less than 30 MINUTES!!

Dang, I just called the tech people and waited for 10 minutes on hold, then later talked to the girl about my Speed problems, that I was capped at 368 kps, and when I tested my speed at dslreports it was 312 kps download. Okay, once she told me that this is a risky move, I didn't care so, she told the guy that suppose to uncap speeds to uncap me at 1544.0 kps, took only 17 MINUTES! (after the 17 minutes the line unsynced, as Paladin said) I turned off my modem, and the guy called and said turn my computer on. So I did, and later he told me wait up till I did a test of my own to see how fast I was. Later once he did his test, he said woh, your right you shouldn't be capped at 368kps. Once I tested my Speed...............

Test running..........
** Speed 1204(down)/109(up) kbps **
(At least 24 times faster than a 56k modem)
Logging result
Finish.

Thats what i got! what a big JUMP!!!!

I say god is watching over me and Paladin! or either Pacbell is really getting their act together.! Consider I waited for 8 whole months till live connection...

This call occurred at 4:00pm San Francisco Time...

By the way dslreports say that my co distance is 10k. WOh thats good speeds... I sure wish I can go higher on upload speed though, but this big jump on download speed made me so happy today....

I believe your right about the service. Unfortunately i have to be capped at 768(which isnt bad), But tech guy stayed on phone with me the whole time we were testing to see if the capp could be moved to 1.5.It was about 30 minute phone call but they used to just tell you theyll call you back. Sounds liuke they are getting a little better.

Congratulations on your new found speed, lol! I too received the gift of speed today from PacBell. My cap was raised from 384 to 768 on Monday, and Today the whole thing was lifted! The installer who came to my house to install my Alcatel Speed Touch and Enternet (after 10 months of slow, SLOW speeds with my Alcatel 4060 w/Speed Stream) and he hooked up some sort of gizmo to my DSL line before and after he had plugged it into my NIC, and the first time I clocked in at 1.36 and the second time at 1.50.

Not bad . . .yeh . . .it seems that PacBell is starting to get their act together (or it may be because of pressure from SBC because of all of the complaints PacBell had been getting, no offense meant Paladin, lol.).

Whatever . . .you are happy . . .I am now happy . . .I wish everybody could be happy too!

Must be all the complaints to the FCC and BBB and all those consumer protection people... Or communications paid off hehe... I know alot of people and I see many people kept on complaining on their service... I guess they were going to get a big fine if they didn't get their act together.. LoL

Funny! That is exactly what the PacBell guy told me today about the 4060 USM modems: PacBell had to get a moveon to avoid getting fines! I guess they promised service and had to produce something.
