ive heard bad things of those modems.....swpping it cant hurt...nothing in your house would stop PB other then your modem or a router...

I had a Toshiba pcx modem, and I never got any powerboost speed until it died and I replaced it with a Motorola Surfboard.

Also, make sure you have a newer router as well.
