I don't recall anytime that the Usenet providers have tried to one-up each other in such a short succession. Usually it would be Giganews announcing another 40 or 50 extra days of retention, then others matching that a few months later, just as GN would announce yet another retention bump.<br><br>However,  I would not expect Giganews to announce any new perks/retention upgrades/price cuts anytime in the immediate future. Doing this so quickly after touting "We are the leaders in Usenet with our new retention" would mean admitting that the competition is now just as strong as they are. For so long Giganews enjoyed being thought of as the creme de la creme of the Usenet providers. Doing anything now would reek of desperation and be an embarrassment to the company.]]></description>
