Is that what you get all the time?

If yes, I'd say cancel your service.

If no, call and report the problem. And then when it's fixed, post your current speed.

Thankfully no. Sorry about not being more fourth coming about the circumstance. While talking with a Shaw CSR who seemed less than knowledgeable, he mentioned about how it was odd my modem was assigning 2 different IPs even though my account is not set for that. After making an appointment and getting off the phone with him, I realized that after power cycling my modem it is always the 2nd computer that doesn't work, and the previous night it was only after a router firmware upgrade that my internet speed was so low. Solution was a simple as power cycling both the modem and the router. In the end I felt stupid and wasted a lot of time.

Any how, my normal speed is close to this although normally I have a bit faster on the upload and download. This test was done while on wireless which does seem to affect the speed a bit.

I hope the OP gets better results soon.

Nice download speeds, although the upload isn't so hot. For a maximum of 2Mbps, you aren't getting close to that.

Pretty good ping though.

Maximum is 1 Mb on extreme. Should have been more clear, I'm not on Warp.

Around what area of Vancouver are you in?

New Westminster. My record was 72mbps down and 0.49mbps at around midnight of course... Also i was downloading at that time a 15.6mb file for the program Spybot Search and Destroy and i downloaded that in 1 second burst. I know there is power boost, but is that even possible - almost 16mb in 1 second ???

OK, 16mb/sec is not possible for 1 second. So it must have been 1.5 seconds. The reason is that 100mbps (the limit of the hardware) is 12.5 mb/sec (100mbpsx0.125 = 12.5 mb/sec). So it must have been slightly above 1 second...

Must be something going on with your cache, can't possibly get more than 38Mbits on download and 16MB in 1 second? Craziness!

I think its possible to get more than 38mbps. I just did a speedtest now:

Even if the test reflects the SpeedBoost spike for a single second, I think it is possible to max out your physical cable limit...

Ok, to clarify... The cable can actually support way more than 100mbps but the network adapter of my computer is limited to 100mbps. Same limit is with my router - 100mbps...

I understand the part about the network adapter, but the DOCSIS 2 standard that Shaw uses can only support 38Mbps... Even with Speedboost.

Check this out. »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOCSIS

Yea, that makes sense. I just can't explain some of the "incidents". Even if its 42.88 mbps download as per the link, that is roughly 5.4 mb/s and nowhere near even 10 mb/s. As for the speedtest, that must be a joke I guess because clearly DOCSIS 2 can't do even 50mbps...
