tikihead posted : Hey Telco, you might be right. In following your lead, I disconnected the router and connected my pc directly to my modem. Wow, what a difference in speed!

I tested at speakeasy and received 2870kbps down, I typically get speeds around 1200-1500kbps when going through my router.

Another thing I noticed is that my downloads always seem to stall when going though my router. If I am trying to watch a clip off YouTube for example I would always pause midway though and wait for it to catch up. I don't seem to have this problem bypassing the router. Not sure if this is related to my wii connection problems?

Maybe I should test with a different router? Well, thanks for your help.

tikihead posted : Yeah, that's what I thought.

Could this be a Verizon DSL issue? Any thoughts why I can connect to the internet but can't download through to my wii? I don't believe it is a reception problem as I moved everything within 1 foot of each other and still had the problems.

I have the 3mbps service and I typically download around 1500kb.

Telcoguru posted : The modem you have is a dumb modem. It doesn't need to be bridged. Your router does the PPPoE connection which is the way you are already set up.

[modem/router] Nintendo Wii Wi-Fi Connections and Verizon DSL

tikihead posted : I have been having problems lately using my Wii and it's wireless internet connections through my Buffalo WZR2-G300N wireless router.

I am able to "successfully" connect, however, when I go to download either the latest firmware, Nintendo channels or games that are available I receive time-out error messages and can't download but, I am able to play games online. I contacted Nintendo and ran through a series of different settings and was still unable. I took my Wii to a friends house and connected it to their wireless router with no problems. I was able to download and install the latest firmware. When I brought it back home and reconnected it; I received the same error messages.

I don't believe it's a Nintendo issue, but an issue with my network. I am using Verizon DSL modem (Westell B90-36R515-01 Rev.F) and connecting to internet using the router's PPPOE. Buffalo support asked me to try and "re-bridge" the modem, but not sure how to do that.

Any help would be appreciated.
