Re: [OOL] Broadband wired and wireless router recommendation?Thank you for the explanation! I guess DHCP is not high on Zyxel's priority of bug fixes. Do we know if all router models in the Zywall line exhibit this flaw? I wouldn't mind swapping to a different model if there is one without the problem.
Thanks. |

Sorry for reviving this topic but I have the same Zywall at home but it does get receive an IP automatically using DHCP without having to click on the DHCP button. The problem I'm getting is that I'm recieving a brand new IP every few days, which screws up my VPN Tunnels from home to work. I do have my DynDNS account but I was just wondering if anyone was running into the same problem. When I had my WRT54GS on DD-WRT my IP rarely changed. I might try cloning one my mac addresses for kicks. |

One thing to look at and try, the reply to a DHCP Broadcast will come from the private IP of the default gateway. This will be a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx address and will likely be first IP outside your network in a tracert (unless they have set it to not respond to traces). Check the settings of the router for any that might block a private IP. Many times routers will consider a private IP on the WAN a spoof. Also you can try adding an allow rule in the router firewall for that private address for DHCP. |
