what about good ol h33t
well i mean I still 3 torrentz web site since it searches like every torrent site, and it seems to be growing in popularity because I've been seeing lots of comments on stuff there; like LOTS. But truth is... TPB is the biggest head guy out there and I guess people would just spread out to other trackers, and what's with the like 'peer exchange' I guess all in all we could live w/o tpb, but idk :P wonder who would come out on top if it tumbled :P I know I wouldn't want to be on top cause ovbiously they just go for the big guys.

I actually much prefer the other TPB. Though will fall back to the main one if Demon doesn't have what I'm looking for. The only difference between the two... I don't care quite as much about my share ratio on TPB, as there's usually far more people seeding. On the other hand the Demon in me, likes to keep my ratio up on Demonoid there, as that's my prime source for a few specific Weekly Anime Series. So I share back.

That's about all I use for Torrents these days... Anime, and occasionally Music that I can't find on iTunes. (Stuff I'm not paying $29.99 + $15 shipping from some online store for a 5 song CD.)

I love the demon. Not sure why so many knock it, other than not knowing what they are doing with port forwarding. Many users there can't accept incoming connections because they don't know how(or care) to forward their port. However, speeds are usually good there if you have your port forwarded. It just takes several minutes-1/2 hour sometimes to get up there. You can get some very rare stuff there, including for Linux. Even custom made distros if you hunt around. I prefer to roll my own, but a beginner who needs something customised for a certain purpose(or with preinstalled software) might find what they need right there.

I don't think it's newbs without port forwarding that's the problem. Speeds suck on Demonoid even compared to fully open public trackers (like ye olde TPB). If 'noid wants to even pretend to be private, they should enforce ratio.

They don't even pretend to be. Anonymous Joes can download newer torrents directly off Demonoid. Demonoid allows sharing of torrents on other sites and allows connections to their tracker on any torrent, from anyone. When they are allowing so many anonymous connections, there is just no way to fairly enforce it. Anyone can connect to and leech from the Demonoid tracker without ever signing up and being subject to the tracking, with Demonoid's blessing. Deimos once told me it was about trying to teach new users, and that the site had to elect between handling fewer users like a private site with accurate ratio tracking or the less accurate tracking they do that allows millions of users with lower server CPU overhead.

Mileage varies with torrents. I personally have seen over 1 MB/sec on Demonoid several times in recent history. Only limiting factor was my line(10 mbit down 1 mbit up).
