Any cable supplier other than Rogers in Ottawa?I am in Ottawa. Besides the expensive and infamous Rogers, is there any cable internet provider in Ottawa? I heard 3web may have cable, but not sure its quality and service.
Thanks. |

Rogers and CIA/3Web. That's it.
Some people have been having speed problems with CIA, while some like myself have been experiencing excellent speeds and service.

Thanks, Jason, for your prompt reply. What is the total price of cable internet of 3web (including modem rental)? Was its internet ever down in Ottawa? Hope we don't need to sign a one year contract.
If I order online or call them, can I get it in a week? Thanks. |

Never used CIA in Ottawa, so I don't know. It works for me in Toronto.
I bought the modem from eBay as it turns out to be a lot cheaper than renting/purchasing from them, but you can buy from them for $60 or rent for $4.95.
No contracts with them. I pay $39.95 (got the phone service too), otherwise it's $32.95 + tax. Don't know about setup times. Might want to ask them.

Thanks. Noted Jason you are not in Ottawa. The 39.95 price for both phone and cable internet is really a good deal, though we may have to add 4.95 modem rental. What is the type of modem, and what rough price is it if I buy it from the market? Thanks.
Did you have any problem contacting the 3web? I heard it's not easy to put the line through with them when needed.
Enjoy your really good deal. |

Bought it for $30 on eBay. No problems contacting them; you should try and call them - I actually think they pick up quite fast. - Jason |

Thanks, Jason, for your warm-heartedness!
I don't have Rogers cable so far, so if I register as a new buyer of cable internet, do they charge any set up fee? I can't find this answer from their website.
Thanks. |

No problem.
CIA charges $50 for installation as Rogers makes them order a technician if you don't have internet on cable already. Even if the tech doesn't need to do anything, they still need to send someone out. Don't ask me why.....it's just another money maker for Rogers.
Walk your way thru the online signup or give them a call. I might be missing some stuff that you can ask the sales rep.

Thanks, Jason. Yes, I called 3 Web, and they told me the $50 setup fee for cable can't be waived. Thanks. |
