Sites not showing on the first attempt in IE8

Hi everyone,

I am having this issue now for a couple of months, when I want to go to any website using IE8 I always have to enter the site address twice before it will go to the site in question.
Sometimes when I want to go to the google page for instance it shows me the google search page with the results (google as search object).
I am having great speeds downloading stuff, but surfing has become somewhat of a hassle because of this issue.
I have not called Charter yet,....will do that as last effort...man do I hate speaking with those script jockies...
Anyone with some ideas what could be going on? oh...I am having this on all PC's we have here, also this problem started a couple of months ago out of the blue.

Setup:
Linksys router
PC hardwire connected to router
Vista Ultimate

You may want to check your nic settings. I have had similar occurrence and corrected them by changing the defaults of the nic. This is usually the wireless card but I have had this with the wired card also. If you don't know what to change, try uninstalling the nic driver and rebooting. Recheck your device manager to be sure the driver reinstalled. I may be off base but I find everything does not necessarily work as well with updates and defaults as they do with minor tweaks. Search this site first and then the web for hints on network interface card, routers and software tweaks. You will have to be specific about your interface cards and routers.
Rots o' ruck.

Try fixing this problem by troubleshooting it with Add-ons disabled - »blogs.msdn.com/ie/archiv ··· 113.aspx

You can also reset IE 8's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options, then the 'Advanced' tab, and then clicking the 'Reset...' button. That may work.
