Unbelievable - in this economy. I shouldn't be surprised though, this is FiOS, this is big.

Your best package now has all the premiums + Epix in it now? I don't think so. Your best package switches to better at the same price, with the internet speeds pushed down to 25/25. You can't compare best to best.

What it looks like is they're trying to force $40 worth of premiums onto anyone who wants the best internet speeds in NY.

For what it's worth, National gets Red Zone, SHOWTIME, FLIX, The Movie Channel and EPIX shoved into the TV bundle at top internet (35/35), and NY gets those plus HBO, Cinemax, Encore, STARZ, IFC, Sundance Channel shoved into the TV bundle with top internet (35/35).

Rather chaotic from what I can see. Shoving channels into all TV tiers to justify raising prices. From here it seems that this is the third major price increase in what, about 16 months. Effective 1/17/10. This should hurt TV. Glad I never took the sat dishes off the roof.

No one has noted the absence of the 50/20 speeds. Where's that going?

"No ETF if home phone established" appeared on that PDF. I don't see how they can charge you an ETF if you move to an area where they do not provide FiOS service.

I'm not planning on moving any time soon so not a big deal to me.

How the hell could you sell this to apartment dwellers with a $360 ETF?

No where. Currently 50/20 is unable to be bundled for savings. They increased the speeds for next year but obviously the prices have to go with the increased speeds even though most of us already had symmetrical speeds for quite awhile now.

Actually, in this economy, a lot of suppliers are, and are going to, be increasing prices, and generally more than the rate of inflation. Revenue growth has effectively been put on hold, the last few years, due to the bad economy. Now that the economy is improving, most companies that have deferred revenue growth up until now will not only capitalize on the improving economy, but do their best to make up for what they've deferred.

For example, Robert Iger announced this past week that Disney is going to be reversing its trend of the past few years, offering very deep discounting on Walt Disney World vacations, now that the economy is improving. The next time Disney puts out its schedule of vacation packages, you can expect that the prices will be much higher.

We've also seen prices start to increase on airline travel and many other discretionary line items.

You're probably correct. Makes me think I may want to go ahead now and upgrade to the current "better" bundle from my old 2007 10/2 internet/Premier TV/freedom essentials plan.

50/20 has never been part of a bundle package so I doubt it's going anywhere.

I dont believe you can. The area i live in now when i asked why they didnt have fios i was told the main reason at the time was because no one wanted to be in a contract. Now with that high ass ETF its just another reason for apartment dwellers to say no

Our apt. complex is in the final stages of wiring & testing, but will almost certainly not be ready to go by the 17th. The manager had been trying for more than a year (at my urging) to get Verizon here earlier, but December was as soon as they would start. So now they will finish, right in time for the ETF to take effect.

She said their Verizon rep has indicated that they are going to make residents some special off-the-books offers for those who sign up during the initial promotion of the service here, so we'll see if that includes a waiver of the ETF.
