birdfeedr posted :
said by John32n :

I had it installed on monday but didn't sign up for the one year plan yet.
Issues with ETF are not a problem for those who ordered before 1/17/10 which is the effective date of the new plans. Since the documents are effective 1/17, but VZ could advance or retard that date without notice, it pretty much boils down to what the CSR tells you at the time you sign up.

The astute FiOS observer will be aware of the changes coming down the line, and keep them in mind when discussing current service offerings.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I had it installed on monday but didn't sign up for the one year plan yet. " There is no ETF penalty for month-to-month services. And the price you agreed to will indicate if you did or not.

It's probably safe to say you're on a one-year subscription with the price locked for the 2nd year. If you cancel because you move to an area not serviced by Verizon, you should not be hit with an ETF.

Curious, though. What services do you get, and what price did you agree to. If it's a bundle, either double-play or triple, you are on a contract with an ETF if you cancel without moving.

rockotman posted : True. But that is for NEW contracts. Existing contracts are under the old policy. I specifically asked the question yesterday when I called to set up a termination date.

But you point is valid. If the OP has an install after 1/10, he probably will be subject to the new terms and conditions.
--
Shine on you crazy diamond...

One Year Agreement Cancellation Fees

anon posted : I am renting an apartment and just got Verizon and they offered a one year deal. The problem I have is that I am not sure if I will be here an entire year. They stated that should I move Verizon can transfer the account and should it not be available there will not be any charges. I was wondering if anyone has any info or experience with this? I know some companies have a ton of loop holes when it comes to cancellation fees and was wondering if its as easy/reasonable as they make it out to seem. I have my doubts.
