Re: 40% that switch to FiOS switch back to OOL

I did read the post. He prefers the service provided by CV at the lower price.
Despite the CV product being "shittier"; i.e., abominable, amiss, atrocious, awful, cheesy, crappy, cruddy, crummy, deficient, dissatisfactory, dreadful, garbage, godawful, icky, inadequate, inferior, junky, lousy, not good, poor, slipshod, stinking, substandard, the pits, unacceptable, unsatisfactory, when compared to FiOS.

Economics defines this as the better product for that consumer.
Because money is by far, the average person's (not the nerds here) driving motivation. They deal with inconveniences to save $$.

They don't care that their STB is slow as Michael Moore on a stepper, and the IPG is woefully outdated. They're generally not aware that their HD is over-compressed to fit into an outdated network infrastructure. They have no clue their internet is running at less than 20% of its' advertised speeds. If they did, CV would be out of business, and you, out of a job here.

You can argue all you want, and speculate why people dump FiOS to return to CV. Some say it was less expensive, some say billing, some say customer service. Others say they found FiOS to be less expensive.

You assertion that FiOS is "Better" is just not supported by the facts. The products are a commodity, otherwise people would not be switching based on price. If it were "Better" in some way, people would be willing to pay a premium for it - which you agree they are not. Even when they can clearly afford the difference in price (they switched to FiOS so clearly they found it affordable) they see no added value in FiOS to justify a modest premium.

The fact is the consumer decides which product is "better" - not some test done in a lab, not some self-proclaimed guru who blesses the technology - but the consumer.

For now, CV has significantly higher market share. They also are able to get 40% of those that switch to VZ to come back - after experiencing what you claim to be the "better" product.

CV has a huge pricing advantage - a "better" delivery model, which is much lower cost than FiOS. They can sell at a lower price and make more money than VZ. I don't think VZ breaks even with FiOS in the CV market - they have been forced to have lower prices here than in other parts of the country where there are less formidable competitors, so subscribers in other locations subsidize those in CV territory. This explains why they have put the FiOS rollout on hold - they are not getting (and retaining) anywhere near the number of subscribers expected.

You are the one insisting that CV is the better product because of switch backs.

I, (and practically everyone else in this thread) have called that assertion hogwash and nonsensical.

Major money savings trumps a better product more often than not. People are telling you that outright in this thread (last several posts). You pretend they don't exist/did not say what they said.

Defies logic.

Yes, people switch to the better product. 40% of those that tried FiOS thought they would be better off with CV, and switched back to the better product for them. The other 60% stayed with FiOS because they thought that would be the better product for them.

All the self-proclaimed gurus who know "THE best product" don't make any difference - the only opinion that matters is that of the consumer. They decide which product is better for them.
