pbeno- the mac you need will be on a sticker on the back or bottom of your modem, it is labelled "HFC MAC"

That MAC resolves to MAC Address
prefix Vendor
00508B COMPAQ COMPUTER CO

So, I do think you have the right MAC. LOOK on the cable MODEM. There should be a sticker on the back/bottom; also, it usually on the box that he MODEM came in.

Modems with upstream power of 58.0 dbmV or more areknown to have stability problems. You may want to try positioning the modem off the first 2:1 split as the cable enters the house, or give customer service a call to arrange a service visit.

I was about to purchase a SB4100 and it seems the way to go considering all the people asking for firmware updates.

How come the update is not available from a web page?

How do you send the firmware update over?

Thanks for your help. I am new to OOL so I am trying to figure things out.

*Cheers*

The firmware isnt sent to you, it is installed directly by Engineer88... Just post your MAC number here and he will update you (it is on a sticker on the back or bottom of your modem and it says HFC MAC... make sure you leave the modem on...

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh...I see.

Thank you.

What if I ever need to do a fresh install of the hard drive? I'm guessing that nothing will affect the modem's firmware upgrade.

Correct?

You are correct brooklyn. The modem is a separate piece of equipment and is not related to anything you do on the computer.

We send the upgrade directly to your modem. No user intervention is required. Normally, these upgrades are done automatically. Users that don't want to wait for the automatic push can request it here. Someday, we may have a web page for this, but for now, this is what we have.
