Mouse Studering & Keyboard Lag

Windows 7

MSK 1094 (B) Mouse & Keyboard

MSI p55-cd53 (ms-7586)
BIOS Date 12/31/2009 v1.6
4gb, 2.66 i7

Mouse pointer will frequently studder across screen when applications such as games or vent client software are NOT running. DPCLAT reports 1000uS avg when idle, ~275 when under load.

Does this sound like any particular problem to anyone? I've had this under XP & ME during the early days, but could not find a fix.

Windows 7 64 bit. The mouse stuttering along with a few other issues were corrected with a reinstall to a 32 bit windows 7.

Do you think the 64bit era has come too early?

I'm seeing this trend a lot. People get sold on the "speed" of 64bit hardware and software, then call me when their stuff doesn't work. I convince them to rollback to xp SP3 ASAP, and all their problems seem to go away.

"If there's a non-reinstall to Vista 6.1 32 bit option for remedying the mouse hitching, what is it"? Would be a better way of asking this question I suppose.

Whats wrong with this picture?

Is there any mouse-vendor-supplied "mouse software" involved? Throw it away and your problems are usually solved.

(Note, this isn't a specific 64-bit problem. As far as I'm concerned, it has always been thus. User-mode mouse software = bad news.)

The user installed some specific M$ hotfix, I'll ask him which, that seemed to have fixed the issue.

I'm not sure if there was any software from the vendor involved, I'll ask about that also. I think he just plug & played.

I don't know anything about 32 vs 64 bit issues, but the usual start is to reinstall the mouse drivers.

Sorry I haven't responded. I cant seem to get a hold of the person who was having the problems. If I hear from them I will post at that point, otherwise what we have documented so far is all for now.
