Dual Boot Vista/UbuntuI had originally set a client up with Vista and Ubuntu, both were working perfect for 6 months -- the client tried to *upgrade* Ubuntu to the latest version and now he cannot get Vista to load up. The new version of Ubuntu continues to work without issue and informs me that the Vista installation is still intact. Any ideas on what the upgrade could have done to prevent Vista from loading? He's bringing the laptop in a few hours, but I'd like to brainstorm some ideas before he gets here.
Thanks. |

Laptop came in, looks like that's exactly the problem, the upgrade overwrote the MBR but my goodness his GRUB bootloader is a mess. Has 3 different versions of XP, 2 Vistas, 6 different Linux distros and half are nowhere to be found. I will grab EasyBCD, looks badass. |

Ran into some issues with EasyBCD while trying to add Linux to the MBR. What is the proper way of doing so?
Manage Bootloader -> Linux -> Grub -> NAME: -> Drive (Native Linux) -> Add Entry?
I can load Vista fine now, but Ubuntu on the other hand is giving me errors.
I had to abandon EasyBCD, couldn't get ubuntu to load for some reason. I just went off and re-installed Grub on the MBR and everything is working fine for the time being. |
