Re: QoS at Teksavvy level

Get a router that can do downstream QoS.

I don't know what consumer grade routers can do it though, there must be something out there. I haven't been keeping up with the latest home routers though (ever since I started messing around with Mikrotik...).

I have DLink DIR 625 with QoS supported. I bought it like 2 years ago but the downside of DIR 625 router is SLOW. I had to turn off QoS otherwise it will keep on freezing up due I have 8-9 devices connected to it.

It costs $70 for that router. To be honest on my next purchase. I would get $100+ one just to be sure of better performance supporting more devices.

edited: I meant turn off/disable QoS.

He wants QoS for the download side of the connection, not upload. That HAS to be done at the TSI side, period.

Figures. Can't expect much from overpriced consumer junk I suppose...

Would be pretty cool if QoS was done at the ISP side and be user-configurable. I don't know how feasible it is, but it would be awesome. Just log in to a TSI web page, select what protocols/ports you want prioritized and how much bandwidth to allocate, and you're done.

Probably a pipe dream though, I imagine that would require a lot of resources for an ISP to do that.

A CP like OpenDNS network control that would be great but in this case TSI needed to hire some web programmer for the interfaces.
