Re: HD PVR SLOW

DCT6412 in Burlington -- just decided to do a search before returning the box assuming it was dying. It has slowed down dramatically over the past several days. Not only are PVR operations often delayed by many, many seconds, at times you can watch as it laboriously draws the screen.

Something is obviously very wrong. Pulling up an info screen shouldn't require any network access so it is certainly a local issue in the firmware of the box. It is close to unusable. It's slow enough at the best of times, but now it's simply ridiculous.

This is lame....if it was a crappy firmware update that was pushed out, why do they have to wait for Motorola for a fix? Is it not possible to push back the previous software that they were running before?

Someone screwed the pooch on this one....

Simple answer Motorola are the experts and they know the code. They are looking at the log files to find out what went wrong. When you don't know what the cause is you can't fix it can you? The last thing you want to do is attempt to roll back a software update only to find out that it wasn't the problem and you've "pooched" several thousand set tops. No one is certain that this is a bad software patch.

Understood....I'm just venting. Otherwise I'd have laid the boots to my 6416 and practiced kicking field goals with it this weekend. Not sure the Cogeco storefront would exchange a broken DCT with a big boot print on it though
