Internet "Hiccups/Hang Ups"

Hi Everyone,

I just recently got AT&T uVersed installed. I got the TV, Phone and Internet Package. I noticed that the internet works well for a certain amount of time and then "hangs up" and then comes back online. It does it periodically through the day. Has anyone experienced this problem as well? I did the hard reset on the RG and DVR Receiver but still happens. It is really bugging me out, cause my internet isnt consistant.

This can be caused by a number of different things. Is this only when you are connected through a hardwired (Ethernet) connection or is it a wireless connection, or is it both?

Is it just the internet that is freezing or is it all of your services?

When this happens, do any of the lights on your RG turn red? If yes, which lights are turning red?

Also, if it's the internet only, resetting your DVR Receiver will do nothing to make this issue better.

Finally, check for EMI. EMI is electromagnetic interference and can be caused by any electronic devices that are within 3 feet of your RG. If any of the below items are within 3 feet of your RG, you MUST move these items to reduce EMI. If you don't and EMI is found and a technician is sent to your home, you will more than likely be charged for the technician visit. Here are items that can cause EMI:
Computers, Monitors, Televisions, A/V Amplifiers & Receivers, Ceiling Fans, Garage Door Openers, Exhaust Fans, Treadmills, Halogen Lamps, Cordless Phones, Baby Monitors, Wireless Intercoms, Stereos, Speakers, Magnets of any kind, and basically any electronic device.

You also want to check for any physical barriers that can be blocking the connection. This includes:
Basements, concrete, metal walls, steel/aluminum framing, stucco (plaster on chicken wire), wall aquariums, large or medium appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, microwave ovens), etc.

If wireless (you don't state) see SomeJoe's wireless interference thread:

If you had it connected by ethernet, no disconnects.

So your TV and VoIP are working fine?

If so, the wireless connection would definitely be the first culprit.
