On a side note everything was prettty decent till it got to -4 last night then WHAM! no USA and bad internet he thinks that one Thermal may have died or wasn't set right....... Hope this all gets resolved soon.

It's going to take a while to get those installed and everything re-balanced. I would not expect an immediate fix.

For everything else, there was some tiling yesterday while it was snowing and blowing, but it looks good today.

Now what really annoys me is 3 weeks ago they talked me into phone and a digital HD box all I can say is %^$%&*^%(*&^(*^) if that sums it up. constantly loose HD or phone again today a tech was out we talked he laughed said yeah they just sometimes dont get the hint when you call do they, he filled out the required forms and escalated it again hopefully this time the get the SNR right. Funny thing tho the tech pointed out as I had pointed out on my initial install that I should have an 11 drop not a 6 but hey what do I know its not like I didnt work for United Cable in Baltimore for the original build LOL.

lhollow posted : The tech left a few minutes ago. He replaced some connectors outside and checked signal levels. Unfortunately (in a way), most of the signal problems had gotten better in the last five days, so all I was able to show him is that the signal level on one channel (745, Science Channel, Freq: 657000) is much worse and shows as poor for tuner SNR and tuner errors while other channels with lower and slightly higher frequencies are fine. It can get a bit of tiling/pixellation, but not this morning. He said that is something they'll have to look at back at the office.

The concern I'm left with is if the signal drops the next time it rains, which could be Saturday, how do I communicate that maintenance needs to look at it and not in several days, but when the problem is happening. With luck, the new ends outside will take care of it, but if they don't, how do I get the right people on it?

There does seem to be some technical difficulties in our area, which the Tech said are being addressed. Our patience was asked for meanwhile, and considering the good effort given, we're going to comply, and give Mediacom some time to sort it out.

So, in the meantime, a 'thanks' to Chad and the Tech was due, and I'm giving it.

Had these problems many times during many winters. Being an ex Maint tech I was paged out many times in the middle of the night, however got lucky a few times temp dropped to -10 by 7pm some nights so it would act up then.

During the day, we tend to leave the news running in the office. At various times, very intermittently, we lose FOX, CNN, HLN and MSNBC. I'm unsure about other channels.

We have reported the problem NUMEROUS times. Techs have looked over our installation, and that's not the problem. (no surprise; this is a small town, and we hear neighbors' complaints of this situation daily) One tech opined that it was a 'head end' problem. I'm ignorant of the subject, and have no idea what that means. But the problem remains.

It's maddening, but we seem powerless to do anything about it. (Well, at the hotel, anyway. Myself, I live about a mile up the road, and canceled my Mediacom TV subscription long ago, and went back to my Big Ugly Dish)

It rained a few days ago and the signal got a bit worse, then it got colder and the signal got worse still (-15.9). I called today and someone is scheduled to come on Tuesday (first available), but now some HD channels won't even come in.

and its wednesday, did you call them yet? sure theyl send a regulare tech first, thats when you show him this thread and hopefully its cold when he shows up. he puts in the maint tech request. problem solved.

it is not something that can be fixed by a push of a button. its a hardware problem. hell last time i had a problem MediacomChad helped schedule a tech, that tech then noticed some line issues and scheduled a maint tech, that in its self fixed my internet. and i didnt even realize i had a problem with it.

so, as much as it hurts, pick up the phone. and call them. or PM MediacomChad to set up a tech roll.

using cable moden, ceton tuner ( »www.cetoncorp.com/products.php ) and cable box to measure snr, they all agree
