Well SMC claims a distance of 9+ Miles with external antenna. Just wondering, cause the USR looks very much like the SMC..

My apologies for spreading misinformation (it was not
intentional). The SMC does have an external antenna
connector.

I have an SMC2682W, with an SMC high gain antenna, and use USB wireless adapters as the "Subscriber Unit". Using a 75 foot LMR400 cable to get 90 ft in the air on my HAM tower in my back yard...

Have 20 beta customers, including my Fed Ex Overnight and Ground deliverers who drive all around my neighborhood checking their stocks on their laptops while working.

Range is about 3.5 miles in the direction of the antenna. 1 mile radius behind the antenna. Everyone gets all you can eat access to my t-1.

Speeds vary from 200 kbps to 1100 kbps to the internet. Using a cache server internally (which helps TREMENDOUSLY). Even have 2 game servers here which subscribers ping 10-25 ms to.

Love it!
