Re: ontario broadband pricing comparisonAt this point in time, assuming CNOC does a petition to the GiC next monday, conservative/reform MPs are our best assets. You need to work with them to explain the situation and get them to speak to the PM and industry minister.
This doesn't prevent you from speaking to the opposition. But you need to pretend you support Reform/Conservatives to get their ear. |

Conservative MPs are a dead end. They've already proven themselves to live in the Telcoms' pockets.
At this point I'm not holding my breath for yet another appeal. They're not willing to listen to reason. They've all been well paid NOT to.
Our only real hope at this point is a new broom sweeping the house clean and a few months of extortionate bills before Joe Lunchbox gets his dander up. |

updated.. wouldn't this mean that also other dsl providers who have 6mb+ are providing non dsl level service?
also, i dont want to keep adding smaller isps until next month because as it appears yak was added earlier today but now they've confirmed limits as well ( bell enforced 60gb )
although it feels like by next months if ubb is enforced all isp plans would look exactly the same. |

Sorry folks but don't let your personal political views skew your understanding of the situation here - if you think liberals or tories will treat you different when it comes to Bell/telecom stuff.... well, you're in for a surprise.
Both parties are in their pockets, no doubt about it - sure, NDP might scream "no caps" but that's cause they know they won't be elected so they can promise you the moon. |

is anyone here on twitter? it would be nice to get a twitter storm going to affect all the news channel hashtags. |

It's tricky to get the names of all of the networks and a message in 140 characters. The names themselves take up most of the message. Here's an example.
"Cover the indie ISPs' upcoming UBB situation. @CBCNews @CTVMontreal @CTVToronto @globaltvnews @Radio_Canada #TekSavvy #Acanac #Bell #Cogeco #Rogers #Shaw #Telus #Videotron"
(I can't find TVA's twitter profile) |

We should make sure the CRTC has BHell and Dogers count all bandwidth used including movies delivered from them to the customer via internet "Rogers on Demand" cap off! |

In another thread, someone posted that he was on a show on a Videotron/Quebecor owned channel. He was talking about how Videotron's then 30GB cap was retarded and stuff like that. Afterwards, the producer told him that 90% of the footage would need to be cut out. I think it might have been his language. Calling something retarded or gay or stuff like that on air is a big no-no. |

Primus is listed as Cable, it should be ADSL1.
Bell's Essential Plus and Performance packages should also be listed as ADSL1. |

would love to have some help in adding more data to this table. -- and would like to trust a few users on here to be able to edit this via a google account.. please PM if you are willing to do this. if we can make this reflective of the national plans that would be great too.. also, if anyone has OLDER plans ( say from 5 years ago or 10 years ago -- or copies of the bills that indicate their speed/rates ) then we can also throw in an effective date column to track how things have gone up or down -- or create another chart on a year by year basis.
we know for sure this will change as more ISPs start implementing UBB enforcements.. so a date by date comparison somehow would be great to do. |

Bell plans require the customer to rent a modem which typically adds $4 per month to the cost of each plan. It's never included in the advertised price, but buried instead in the fine print. |
