There isn't a whole lot they can do when you cancel, unlike most companies, they cannot offer you a discount to stay.

Aren't you on the St Laurent PHUB? Which side of the river at Mooney's Bay are you on?

I thought St Laurent PHUB covered east of Bank north of Billings Bridge, then east of the river south of Billings Bridge.

I am west of Bank, east of the river, south of the airport and have TSI cable.

The Rogers Internet service cancellation saga continues. They have now sent me a bill for $273 for "unreturned equipment". Luckily I still have the receipt for returning it. I'm considering putting a stop payment on my credit card.

Or installing Fibe. We had Expertech trucks all over our neighbourhood a few months ago, and then Fibe suddenly was available to us on Bell's site.

I know what you mean. Rogers has the same kind of thing. It's not called Expertech but something else. The brand looks almost the same.

I forget what it's called. I see them working on the cable lines all the time.

ExperTech works for Bell and based on what their web site says, apparently exclusively.

However I have SB5100 from rental rogers right now. I don't think you can log into that. How do I go about releasing the DHCP address from it?

I have the SB5100; it responds to the 192.168.100.1 address in a web browser, no need to log-in.

If you have a gateway router, you can release the DHCP from there; there should be a [release] and a [renew] button on the web interface WAN settings page.

If you've directly connected your modem to a PC you need to go to a command prompt and type...

ipconfig /release

When you connect the new modem and go to its home page at 192.168.100.1 you will have to keep pressing your browser refresh button to see the status change. It doesn't take too long; a few minutes usually. You can watch the modem lights too.

Plug in TSI modem... cable + ethernet

Sorry to disappoint y'all, but I won't be the test case. Rogers showed up to disconnect me today, saw my note, and went to the door to talk to my wife. He phoned somewhere, then drove away. Well, I'm on TSI DSL and worst case scenario, I'll have the two overlapping for a month.

That being said, a week without internet at home isn't a big deal. I earn a living by starting at a monitor for the greater part of the day writing occasionally useful code, so a break wouldn't be bad :P
