Re: UK gets yet another 1GBPS Network - courtesy of Fujitsu

So it is a logistical problem not a real technical issue. No a big one why we shouldn't be modernizing the internet in Canada.

Actually it's more of a political issue... the whole system is rigged to that the incumbents can dominate the market, and no politician has the necessary testicular matter to do anything about it.

If it is a political issues, then the job creation while modernizing the network and the supposing benefit of wealth/jobs having such a network afterward would be an easy sell.

Tell me why politicians wouldn't want their riding especially a rural one wouldn't want to have the possibility of creating more jobs?

How's that saying go again?

The best government money can buy...

I'd argue the incumbents carry more weight, and their lobbying arms propose solutions the look good on paper job wise and politically.

The only way we're ever going to get out of Canada's awful telecom scenario is if the government goes into it with a whatever it takes attitude and sticks to the plan, without consulting Bell et al. first.

Otherwise... the usual suspects will always convince the gov't the adopt a solution that puts them on top.
