I live in Rochester, NY (well ... Webster, NY) and currently just cancelled my TimeWarner Cable television part of my service.

I get RoadRunner Turbo only, and they are now charging me $64.94 / month. So, yes, it really does cost that much. They bumped the price up on my roadrunner turbo broadband after I cancelled my cable TV service, something about no longer getting the promotion or some bull-crap. Makes me sad

P.S.S. - i heard the docsis 3.0 roadrunner extreme / wideband options are going to become available in a few months for Rochester? I am definitely going to upgrade to roadrunner extreme if'n that's the case.

RR has always cost more if that is the only TW service you subscribe to. Earthlink remains an option because it is more reasonably priced as a stand alone service.

Try calling up Time Warner Cable, and telling them you want to switch to Earthlink cable. Time Warner Cable handles the billing for Earthlink Cable, except there will not be PowerBoost.

The fine print states $29.95 is not available in all areas. I tried my address and it came up with $41.95 for 7 mps, slower than standard RR at 10 mps, no 6 month promo. I also checked a friend's address in Rochester and it only showed dial up as available, with the premium dial up requiring a 2 year commitment. In the NY/NJ area, ELK and RR are interchangeable, at the same rates, except for the direct billed $41.95. We often have to switch subscribers from ELK to RR for special retention offers.
