Questions about switching from AT&T DSL to SonicMainly, I'm concerned about the downtime. I've read that it's 1-4 days, sometimes only hours. Is there any way to know ahead of time how long it would take? I have family members also using the DSL and I don't want to put them out any longer than necessary. |

Are you thinking of switching to Sonic DSL or Fusion service? |

Unfortunately it's not possible to predict exact downtime during the switch-over. I can tell you that the vast majority of transitions on AT&T DSL, or to Fusion, happen within an hour. But, there are some that have a couple days of downtime - and it's not possible to determine in advance which you'll end up being. Sorry!

I have to say, it'll probably still be worth it even with the possible downtime. Sonic is a much, much better company to be with than AT&T and they will genuinely support their product to the best of their ability. I highly doubt you'll have any regrets about switching! |

When I switched over from SBC Yahoo! (at the time before it was AT&T), I had VERY little downtime. As soon as I could get the router out of PPPoE and into DHCP it was back up. From what I hear from people, this is pretty typical. |
