I am experimenting with Vonage for replacing my one of my POTS lines, and I like the results so far. I use Comcast as my ISP, but their phone system is lacking a call hunt feature I need.
So my question: if I request the line be ported to Vonage, how long does it take for AT&T to let go of the number? AT&T is infamous with me for messing up my billing when I make a change.
Thanks!
When I recently ported an AT&T Wireless number to Vonage, it took about two weeks. It also took me arranging a conference call between AT&T's porting department and Vonage's porting department because AT&T kept making excuses and Vonage had notified me that they were going to give up trying to do the number port. After that conference call (made after 10 days), the port was approved the next day and accomplished in two more days.
As for the Vonage call hunt feature, are you sure that you know how it works? That feature requires that all numbers in the hunt group be Vonage numbers in your account. If you only have a single Vonage line, there is no call hunt feature.
Included Features: Call Huntsaid by Vonage :Call Hunt
If you work in small office and can't miss a call, Call Hunt will make sure you get it. Not at your desk to pick up the main line? Call Hunt rings up to 5 Vonage lines in sequence until you answer.
I know for a fact that the numbers have to be
Vonage numbers in your account, because I had that feature available when I had multiple Vonage numbers (and the setup page only allowed adding Vonage numbers in my account). Now that I only have one Vonage number, that feature is no longer available.
Enhanced Call Forwarding and
SimulRing can be used in conjunction with non Vonage numbers, but not
Call Hunt.
