That's good to hear. I wish I had it at work to try it out right now, but I'll have to wait until I'm home. Wanna try out Konqueror, Mozilla, Opera, etc., too. I still believe that eventually, the squeeky wheel WILL get the oil. In this day and time, you can't keep overtly supporting the monopolistic software empire at the expense of the competition (even if becoming a monopoly is your goal as well). It's bad for bizness (especially when the FCC is reviewing a particular merger.... ) |

What about Comcast.net works w/ Netscape? The member services area (which is the Comcast appn. that allows you to manage all things about your account such as add'l emails, passwords, webspace, etc.), does not work now nor did it ever w/ Netscape. I just verified (28.Feb at 11:40am EST) that the member services appn doesn't work w/ either 4.7 or 6.
Go figure??? [text was edited by author 2002-02-28 11:47:14] |

Um, I'm looking at the front page right now . . . It may be that the other menus won't work right this minute. Heck, that stuff does not work with IE at the moment, either. Please verify your facts, Sir. |

I did verify that Member Services doesn't work w/ N. Member Services is all anyone should care about, because it is the only way to manage your account-- i.e., change passwords, email names, add/delete add'l emails, webspace, etc. Perhaps you can authenticate to the main page (i.e., enter your login/pass), but that doesn't mean you can use the Member Services Appn... |

Hmmm... having followed btdude for awhile, I think I recall that he was unable to even get to the main comcast.net page with Netscape 4.7x. So these steps have to come one at a time! Now that you're there bt - that's about as far as you can go... |

Damn......Once again Michigan is left out in the cold. How long did you wait for the page to show. I've let it sit there for a minute or 2 and nothing happens. |

It should just load up, bud. However, as others have stated elsewhere, Netscape is only loading the front page right now. The other stuff wont work yet with Netscape, although it appears none of it works, even with IE. LOL UPDATE: It's 12:25 Netscape has accepted my login name and password. It shows the Welcome page, now. I'm gonna try the other stuff. |

Tried to get to e-mail from the Netscape browser. It loads the front page, but here's what it says after that: No such domain. |

OMG..........It just about worked with Netscape almost. I got the first page. But keeps telling me that my login failed. I guess they forgot my password. [text was edited by author 2002-02-28 12:42:03] |

The Mac people were getting that error last week and found that in reality, they WERE actually logged in and the failure was not really a failure after all but a still-broken page. The threads may still be around with a work around... Would be cool if you guys figured this out before I get home today! |

Guys, my (fairly consistent) experience with the main page and the "Member Services" page is like this:
Netscape 4.75 can read the main page and log in. The pages take forever and are poorly formatted. Netscape 4.75 cannot display the Member Services page because of bad javascript.
Mozilla 0.98 displays the main page faster and more accurately, but fails (in a different way) to reach the Member Services page. That failure revealed something really distubing to me. Clicking on the Member Services link sends you an page with no <html> or <body> tags, but it has a <form> containing two hiddens named usernametxt and passwordtxt. The hiddens have your username and password in plain text!! Then there is a bit of javascript that is supposed to autosubmit the form (but fails to in Moz 0.98) Anyway, I made a local copy of that form, added a submit button and now I can reach Member Services with Mozilla, but I'm deeply concerned that Comcast thinks it's ok to send everyone's passwords on round trips through the internet! (Note the link involved is *not* https. It is plain http.) |

Heh, I'll settle for a hot chocholate. I'm kinda surprised that people haven't jumped on this plain text password issue. I guess if they can't connect at all, password security is down the list |

I've been using Netscape 6.2.1 and have had no problems. Maybe you need to upgrade? |

When you get to "logon failed" screen, hit the "Back" button in your browser . . . you'll be logged on. I was, and it displayed the correct account name, but when I went to check mail, it brought up a download box for logon.msc . . . is this some proprietary Micro$oft active scripting extension? |

McGrupp, do you mean that you were able to access Member Services w/ Netscape 6.2.1? Using Netscape, you can authenticate (login) on main page, but I don't believe you can run the javascript members services appns to change you password, add/edit email accounts, etc. |

With the former, I get the latter as a result when going to Member Services. You say you are getting something different when accessing Member Services? |

After getting the first page up in netscape, tried login only to see the member page flash by and another page tell me that I had a username or password error. Hitting the back command takes me to the members page showing that I was logged in. That was as far as I could get. But trying and end run opened a second empty window with a header showing my username and password plain as day. |
