[TWC] Upgraded to RR Extreme in North Texas (75070)

I had to replace the trusty SB5120 to a SBG6580 to get the 30/5 speeds, but the speeds so far are as advertised. TWC gave me the new modem at no charge, but we'll see how that works out on the next billing cycle.

I already have a good firewall (Sonicwall TZ150) and a Cisco AP, so spent some time disabling the wifi and built in firewall. I disabled NAPT and then entered the firewall's MAC address in the "PassThrough MAC Addresses" section (Advanced>Options). That allowed the TZ150 to get an external IP. A TWC tech told me disabling NAPT also disables wifi.

FYI, don't buy a SB6120 for this area. For some reason, TWC wouldn't activate this model, even after a CS rep said a SB6120 would work for the speed tier I was wanting.

The SB5120 is utter shit and you can use the SB6120 (max speeds of 152/108 with DOCSIS3 4x4 channel bonding) they just won't let you because they don't support it, last I heard it was because they didn't have enough supply from motorola.

yes disabling NAPT disables wireless from the Motorola SBG6580 not your own router.
