[HELP] Strange issue with locally assigned MAC addressHi,
I have a customer who purchased a new set of Dell PC's.
They all have a MAC with the first byte set to 5 (being 0101). Hence we can tell right from the start that this MAC is locally assigned. (the full mac is 5cac.6f72.f76e).
So the end user plug in the computer, gets assigned an IP via dhcp, ARP request are passing side to side, the host arp table is created...but, they can't ping the default gateway. They can ping the switch management IP (same subnet) no problem.
If they use SMAC and create a fake universal MAC, no problem.
It is connected to a 3550 uplinking to a ME3400 (no access, telco equipment).
Any one has seen anything as such before? |

Is port security enabled on the 3550 by any chance? I don't think that's the problem, but I haven't seen this issue before. Any chance of a show run of the 3550? |

Another dumb question is are they even given the default gateway in the DHCP lease?
Second sk1939, a "show run" and a "show ver" would help out, but I'm not aware of any
issues such as this off the top of my head.
