Call backs, getting bumped up the tech chain, shared screen sessions. In the end, the only answer I received was 'there is nothing wrong with the quality of your connection' which just wasn't true. I'll be following the thread to see what kind of answers JCP gets and will update on my connection status and if it stays reasonable or goes south again.

FiOS - Richmond VA - Latency

beezlebub posted : I have had FiOS internet and TV in Richmond VA for 3 1/2 years. Apart from the expected occasional interrupts and hiccups, the product service has been great. Customer service has always been lackluster. My current problem is my FiOS internet, doubled latency between hops within the city.

At some point March 1st / 2nd, I noticed my latency for various games and other utilities had increased. I let it go over the weekend, assuming the horrible weather out West was responsible. Last night, Sunday March 4th - I was still having trouble. I ran speedtest.net and some tracerts.

My download and upload speeds are fine. My usual latency would read 10ms and up to 15ms during peak usage. That is via a speed test connecting to a server in the same city. Since Thurs/Fri, that ping time has doubled - never dipping below 25ms and hitting as high as 35ms. Below is part of the tracert that shows the increased latency.

3 4 ms 5 ms 5 ms G0-0-1-0.RCMDVA-LCR-22.verizon-gni.net [130.81.5
8.62]
4 25 ms 25 ms 26 ms P0-4-0-0.RCMDVA-LCR-21.verizon-gni.net [130.81.2
7.98]

I have spent 3 of the last 15 hours on the phone with Verizon. I was told last evening that they spotted the problem and would work on fixing it. As of this afternoon, it had not been resolved so I called back. I was literally told 'No one anywhere can do anything about it' by a supervisor during an escalated call.

Is anyone in the Richmond area having similar latency issues (download and upload speeds have been fine)? Can anyone else shed some light on the problem? I'm at a loss.
