Re: why is comcast not upgrading my area?said by mikedz4:everyone I have talked to from escalations down to the service center has said the upgrade is on hold. Still doesn't explain why my city (different system) wasn't upgraded from 750 to 860 or 1ghz like planned. First you said said by mikedz4:Just spoke to a person working for comcast and they said they wont upgrade my area. This stinks because even though my area has most of the channels the areas around mine are 550 mhz and they won't be upgraded. Then you said: said by mikedz4:My area is 750 or 860. The town over from me is 550. They get half the channels I do. But they have no plans to upgrade them. So it's the city next door at 550 and yours is at 750? Are they upgrading that city, but it's on hold or are there no plans to upgrade? I'm confused. |

Your saying you were not upgraded from 750 to 860 then you state you are 550 and were to be upgraded to 750 last fall but were not. Not to mention that fact that you originally said you were upgraded but your coworkers in the next town over were still on 500MHz. Do you get paid to create random threads about Comcast? Because Im not sure who is this involved or curious about their cable provider. I spend less time thinking about cable and Im paid to do it. |

It wouldn't be good public relations to upgrade a 750 hz system when the neighboring system is only 550 hz. Comcast will probably upgrade the 550 hz system first. |

This is very simple to explain.......with no competition from FIOS why would Comcast make an upgrade. Personally I got tired of waiting and switched to Directv. When my contract runs out I will see what progress is made. I am not expecting a vast improvement though. Good luck down in Weirton |

The two areas Mikedz4 are talking about are on the same physical system according to the FCC cable database.
The Ohio Part is 550MHz while the West Virginia Part is 750MHz so basically the whole system would get an upgrade at the same time to 1GHz so that they could even out the bandwidth and deploy more channels to the whole system at the same time.
There is a Suddenlink system in Northeast Texas that has one half at 860MHz with CCOR gear with expanded basic analogs and uses up to 861MHz for QAMs and the other half is 750MHz CCOR gear with expanded basic digital only.
Charter here in Texas has the same issue that they are fixing a system that is part 450MHz and part 860MHz. Late last year they just upgraded a part of the 450MHz area to 860MHz basically a town that needed one node. |

That argument doesn't make sense since Verizon FIOS has fewer customers than Cox (less than 1/4th of Comcast) and yet Comcast has rolled out extensive upgrades across their footprint. |

My town doesn't have any FiOs offerings at all, yet they upgraded my area with the elimination of analog signals, and increased the number of channels, as well as upstream internet bonding just the same as they have done in areas with intense competition with FiOS. |

said by mikedz4:because my co workers live across the river on the 550 system and are complaining that I have more channels than they do and yet they pay the same price as me. So you're bugging Comcast because your co-workers made a comment or two? Let them fight the battle, or your local politicians or write a letter to the editor of the local paper. |
