Why is the old Morpheus now working?I am still connecting with the old Morpheus, version 1.3.3. I was quite surprised about that. I didn't upgrade here at work and turned it on yesterday and it connected. It was sharing about 16898 GB out there. I am not sure what is going on but I like the older version a little better. I upgraded at home and it works fine too. Any explanations? |

the network is slowly rebuilding itself without the use of any central servers. whether it amounts to anything like a real file sharing system with substantial numbers or users or it stays at or near the present levels remains to be seen. it's sure fascinating to watch tho.

Yeah it sure is interesting to watch. I just happen to like the older version a little better. I like the built in player to preview some of the stuff that I would download. Hey, beggars can't be choosers I suppose. |

... does anyone know a site to download the older version ? (1.3.3) ... Well I don't know WHY it's working....but it IS!  When prompted last Friday, I downloaded the new PREVIEW version. It is terrible. Then I tried WinMix (for the second time) and, for me, it has NEVER worked well. Then I downloaded KaZaA, and after reading all about the spyware, and seeing it in my reg cleaner, I decided to throw in the towel! I GOT RID OF ALL THESE PROGRAMS!! When I cooled off a bit, I tried going back to an early morning restore point, on Friday, March 1st. (I have ME) Ta-da!!! Had my Old Morpheus again....up and running. I see over 40,000 people are still using it. Don't know how or why, but!!!! ....gotta love it. |

... so, if this utility has been 'locked out' of the FastTrack network, does this mean it's actually functioning as a true P2P network, with no central server ? ... you know, the kind of set-up the RIAA really doesn't believe exists, and will be hard to shut down and legislate ? ... ... I agree, this is very interesting to watch, and I wish it well ...  ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... I didn't get the popup message the other day. There may not have been as many people connecting but there sure was a boatload of files there. I have found everything I wanted from the old version in the last few days. |

I haven't received a pop-up message, telling me that this OLD version is outdated, and to download the NEW version, since I went back to my restore point, and ended up with the OLD version. I usually see about 40,000 people using it. |

Looks like I have to re-install and try again.
Earlier this week I couldn't connect. And played with the registry, trying multiple numbers in the 4th position 18, 21, 23, 15, sometimes it would sit and not connect, other times I got the old version message (and the registry number would increase by 3)
Got on once, 16 people, no files shared, so I'm following this thread with interest. |

I think you need to find (connect to) a search-server a.k.a. "supernode", and supernodes need to find each other as well. So, how do you find a supernode? And how do supernodes find each other? I suspect this is what the mysterious-magical registry entry is about (contains the last list of supernode addresses that musiccity gave you). If those supernodes are still there, you're in luck, sort of, depending on how many other clients like you have found them, and how "well connected" they are to additional supernodes. I think the network isn't quite true p2p, but needs some manual assistance to be rebuilt. ... wish I could, but I'm not sure how it's workin' for me, it just IS ... been a few days now since I re-downloaded from that oldversion site, and there always seems to be about 40,000 users ... speeds are real good here, but obviously can't find some of the less common stuff ... there's another thread goin', talkin' about registry keys ... maybe that will help you ... me, I just consider it a happy accident ... ... ... also noticed it takes a while to connect, so if you get the pop-up, but it still says 'connecting' on the bottom of the utility, maybe you can wait it out ... only things I can think of ... |

Make sure you unistalled the prev. version and clean the registry out of refs to morph before you install vers. 1.3.3 |

Well, I deleted any info from Kazaa and Morpheus on my computer and re-installed 1.3.3 and it worked- until now- it is telling me I need to install new one again-! I have no idea why they just didnt leave the 1.3.3 as it was |
