Re: OOL Price Increase A Mistake?

Computer enthusiasts find that OOL's pricing vs the service quality is more than fair. Many casual users (people who go online to check email, surf the web for 2 hours, log off) are probably content with their dialup since they don't go on the internet alot. Even if they knew OOL was a buncha times faster, they don't want to shell out the extra dough for something they don't use often.

And the reason they do that (like my Earthlink friend) is that with a dial-up account is takes so **** long to actually GET online!

I haven't met anybody (including what I would call non-enthusiasts) that wants to go back to dial-up after using broadband.

I have a customer that switched from dial-up to an Integrated T1 for voice and data. Their T1 channels are not as fast as my OOL and they don't run any mission-critical apps that could benefit from broadband (yet) and they wouldn't go back if you paid them (well, ok, maybe if you did pay them.)

You guys are spoiled, lol! The people on Comcast and ATTBI get 1500/128 for $44.95, where as you all get 10000/1000 for $39.95. Sounds like a sweet deal to me! OOL is by far the best ISP out there for the money, OOL is even competitive aganist fiber offerings, which really says something about the level of service. For the sake of comparison...

PACBell, 4-6mbit/384kbit - $225
Verizon, up to 8mbit/1600kbit - $200
BellSouth 1500/256 - $49.95
Comcast + ATTBI - 1500/128 - $44.95
Cox - 3000/256 - $44.95
Covad - 1500/1500 - $250
OOL - ~8000/~1000 - $39.95

OOL is clearly the lowest price for the highiest speeds, OOL come to sarasota!
