slight printing problemHey Gang
I have a problem that I haven't seen posted here before. I have the SMC 7004AWBR part No 750.5435. My problem is when I try to print in Excel and the cell has a border it seems like the printer locks up when it's about to complete the last cell line. I've hooked up my printer directly to the computer without a problem. Any suggestion? |

Hi What version of Windows are you using? Check your printer spooler settings. You want to spool print documents, start printing immediately, print spooled documents first, and enable advanced printing features. ( These are my settings under Win. XP) Try variations of these settings for your system. Good Luck! |

I'm using Win XP and your settings are exactly like mine. I think I must have something else wrong. Hope you can think of something else to suggest. I'm all ears! LOL |

What method are you using under XP - the Win2K driver or the XP LPR port mode?
If using the latter, the instructions are wrong
LPR Byte Counting Enabled SHOULD BE CHECKED, NOT UNCHECKED |

I'm sorry but I'm kinda new to this stuff. What do you mean by the LPR Byte Counting? Where would I find this setting |

You still haven't said if you are using the Win2K driver or did you setup LPR under XP. Here's a link to SMC's setup instructions for XP using LPR, which is the preferred method, although I have been able to use the Win2K driver as well as the LPR mode (many have not) » www.smc.com/drivers_down ··· ting.pdfFollow the instructions except ENABLE LPR Byte Counting where the instructions say not to. |

I didn't install using the LPR mode. I found Win 2000/XP drivers for my printer. I installes SMC printer monitor software then installed the printer using the new drivers, I selected SMC100 as the port from the list presented.
Also select RAW as a data type as opposed to EMF.
Good Luck! |

Hi Jovil
I did set up the LPR under XP but is still having the same problem. Seems like the printer doesn't want to finish printing the last line. Hope someone out there can suggest something |

Well what do you know. I followed the direction as stated in the SMC instruction by not checking the LPR Byte Counting Enabled and everything's working just peachy! Thanks for everyone's help |

The only absolute with computers: There are no absolutes! Most posters here seem to need LPR byte counting enabled. Glad it worked out. |

Make sure to go into the printer settings and explicitly turn off bidirectional printing.
