I think the frustration is mostly from the fact that it's not that the online help is bad, it's just not there!!! The FAQ is useless, talks about porting etc but doesn't have simple things like how do I set up a phone number.

At least you found something TO read (and are sharp enough to have figured out what they meant).

But I fully agree (and have repeatedly lamented) that much info JUST ISN'T THERE ! (and other info is inappropriately titled and/or haphazardly organized)

Some threads which I have started here about Anveo were for the express purpose of finding/supplementing/clarifying/learning (myself and for for others) whatever info that IS on the Anveo site.

Their service itself seems pretty solid so far, but sometimes ya gotta read between the lines. :huh:

SIP Alers is a very important feature. With SIP Alerts you (or another person or IT system) can be immediately notifed when SIP registration status for this account changes to OFFLINE so appropriate actions can be taken. Up to 5 alerts can be configured.

Alers instead of Alerts.

Another is the Answer call flow item, the help text says "Ansers a call".

Or the FAQs under porting a number:

No, there is no much we can do to accelerate porting process.

no much instead of not much...

Here's one:

Calls can be recorded in Hight Quality
when talking about the Call Recorder.

And another in the same faq:

We do our best to expedite porting porting process,

porting porting process? Who writes this stuff??

I think it's not about the complexity but rather bad layout and bad naming convention (Contact group = permission?!) and plenty of "you would assume that's the way it is done" but most of the time, that's not the case – the callflow template for calling card insists that you punch in precisely 10 digits for phone number(!?) And also plenty of unexpectedly bad stuff like SMS not using your DID as CID, for example. It's like they go through the extra steps to make sure your experience is soured or perhaps to "look complex and business like"! How hard is it to let me make a choice about how long should a ring should last instead of selecting a preset figure from a menu, again just an example. What about the non user configurable sip password and the cryptic sip trunk uri's?

Yes, I am an out of practice user interface designer, way before the UX era! I worked on much more complex information and workflow.

I suggest you always start with a simple basic Call Flow. Later you can always add more items if you need a more advanced Call Flow. This way it will not be complicated when you are a new customer.

I am planning to port out one of my Google Voice numbers ti this Anveo account as I hate Google Voicemail picking it up after 25 seconds. I want to use my own answering system on my own phone or Anveo's voicemail.

My question is how to setup RoboTalk on Anveo. I would like to have it say something like "This is someone, press 1 for something, press 2 for something else, etc. I can't figure what I have to do to do this. And then when the caller presses the number have the call routed to say a SIP URI or even another number.

Can this be done with the Anveo Call Flow?

I even told the chat person there documentation needs a lot of work and he agreed. He even said he was forwarding my chat session to the develpers as an example of what is lacking.
I will post a review of them in the future once I get it all sorted out.

With a lot of help from forums and Anveo Chat, I got Anveo up and running on my Obi 110 and then, SIP on my smartphone.

I found Anveo to be the best VOIP service in my neck of the woods with respect to call quality and reliability.

More people would use it if their website were simplified or if they had a PDF manual, like Bria's manual.

Oh well, I guess they make enough money the way it is.

Edit: And 'Yes', thank God for Arne! :)

Yes, Arne ('Walking Anveo Encyclopedia') Bolen has been very helpful !

It's not just you. Many have commented.

IMHO it is partly because of the rich feature set, and partly because the guy who runs it inspired one of the characters on "The Big Bang Theory". :D
