Thanks everyone for the suggestions but my dad found them when he asked on a facebook group. The cough drops they were thinking of were Victory V. After reading a bit about them I'm not too sure if they would have helped anything or if they just put you so out of it you forgot you were sick lol.

Well - that was the BEST thing about Vicks Formula 44 back in the 70's. It had codeine and you had 2 teaspons and you were out.....
