Ping times in Janesville areaIs anyone have problems with there ping times? I have been having problems for the past 3-4 days. They go from 60-2500 and I can't play any online games because of this. Any thoughts? |

Pings are not a problem here.
Speed is kinda low (529 on 768k) but that's charter.

Could you post a tracert to www.yahoo.com. Also note the first hop in the tracert and ping it 50 times and post that. ping -n 50 xx.xx.xx.xx For info on how to do a DOS tracert and ping see: » stangunn.charter.home.at ··· ping.htm |

Using your E-mail address I got your MacID. It looks like you are pegging your upstream. Do you have any apps such as Morpheus, kazaa, etc open? |

Well, the pings to your first hop are very high. (Maximum = 741ms, Average = 119ms) This would cause any other tracerts to look bad. Just to rule out your end and if you are running Win9x/ME hold down Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" on all programs except for Explorer and Systray and try the first hop ping test again. If they are still high then it looks like a problem with your first hop. The great techs in your area and posting here can help with that problem. |
