It will be easier to determine on-net/off-net traffic.<br><br>From the looks of it though, those yyzs06-*in-f* entries are typically Google CDN (Content Distribution Network) for Google/YouTube video streaming. These are local sites that help serve up content quicker.<br><br>If your PC was idle when you ran netstat, then there's some software running in the background doing something you are not aware of.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[pat2k8 posted : I have warmed up to the idea that I am off my rocker. i am now looking to switch providers.<br><br>i did do a netstat with the 2-wire hooked -up and also tested my theory, but on the 2-wire i only can watch the Bell usage meter. Not very reliable. Netstat with the 2-wire shows a buch of WAN connections, as if it is taking priority over the LAN connection? They both travel down 1 cable to the 2-wire.<br><br>Anyhoo, if the is any interest in my netstat I dont want to post if nobody wants to see it. <br><br>I will watch the usage meter to see if my 650mb file transfer shows as a download. i am the only person on the network in my house right now......thx all.....<br><small>--<br><br>Burlington, Ontario.</small>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[anon posted : Having LAN traffic go out to the Internet and back violates basic routing.<br><br>First, LAN uses rfc1918 addresses that would not route on the Internet.<br><br>Second, the net mask for the devices on the LAN would not send traffic to the default route since the devices all belong to the same local subnet.<br><br>Third, if your traffic went UP to the Internet and back DOWN to you machine then you would see 5gb upload and 5gb download, not 5gb download and less than 1gb upload.<br><br>Take your tinfoil hat off, get some sunlight and breath in the fresh air!]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[pat2k8 posted : Well I am home, quickly hooked up my DD-WRT and got the house back online. Usage is "normal" and the last 5+ GB day was the 14th when I transfered a file from my NAS to my Desktop.<br><br>I remember questioning why my desktop was directly connected to my PPPOe and the 2-wire also was? <description><![CDATA[pat2k8 posted : yes the bandwidth meter is counting upload and download. one of the items that stands out from my previous month would be that I downloaded a 5GB file FROM THE INTERNET and then transfered it from that PC to another in my house. How is it that Bell should be able to charge me for the internal transfer, I don't know? <br><br>I dont know how it is calculating the usage up/down, but when I get home later this week I will be all over this like a spider monkey. I will track usage and transfer of large internal files and see what I can confirm. If I screwed something up, I will be the first to admit it. <description><![CDATA[pat2k8 posted : I am now leaving for 3 days on business, no internet is connected and the 2-wire is going in the microwave.<br><br>correction, when I return I will use my modem to confirm usage through dd-wrt and hook that sum-a-biatch back up an log the usage its giving me. If I can confirm this, I will want to know what I can do for my overage charges and help anyone else experiencing this.<br><br>Think about it, the majority of people just shrug off the overage and say " I must have used alot of data". <description><![CDATA[anon posted : So let me see if i understand correctly...<br><br>Your friend (who you claim is not too handy with this stuff) is most likely right in that Bell is counting LAN traffic, something that every user on this forum has done at one time or another and would CLEARLY have noticed by now.<br><br>Furthermore, a fellow poster who just so happens to be in another province claims that his 1.2TB of data transfer did not count, but because he's in QC you cannot rely on it.<br><br>I hate to break it to you, but Bell is not counting your friend's LAN traffic. If he did, there would have been an epidemic on this site a few times over. ]]></description>
