Verizon FiOS → Does Home Monitoring and Control require the Actiontec?

Hi all!

I'd like to get the Home Monitoring and Control package from Vz, but I need to know if the Actiontec is required.

I currently have my Asus doing the heavy lifting and the Actiontec is in bridge mode to allow my set top boxes to get guide data and vod.

I wouldn't think the Home Monitoring and Control gateway would require the Actiontec (for anything other than a call to Vz Tech Support) but I was wondering if anyone could confirm?
