Deacon Busted For Storing Child Porn in the Cloud → Is What Verizon Did Legal?

Several have asked why Verizon was snooping. Quite frankly, I'd like to know how Verizon could snoop. I would have expected the backup service to use some form of encryption that only the customer can decrypt.

Are folks uploading personal stuff to these services in the clear and relying upon some kind of simple security mechanism to prevent others from accessing their stuff? If so, good grief! That's a helluva way to run a cloud data service.

If I were Verizon, I'd want the customer to be the only one that can read the data to limit liability if security is breached and customer data is downloaded. Not only that but also to guarantee Verizon employees are not in any way tempted to snoop and reveal some secret with a breadcrumb trail that leads back to them. One story like that and they completely compromise their integrity.

I'm certainly not sorry the guy was caught but I wonder if his attorney will manage to wiggle him out of prosecution because the evidence is inadmissible?

Not really, when it comes to chiporn and chimos there is less of a chance of a lawyer doing that. Children are fragile and innocent, protect the children from pedophiles and especially the pedophile Catholic.............. leaders, could the pope been a chimo too? We will never know because he has access to $$lots of money$$. Oh for shame on that Decon, either he was stupid or he wanted to be caught.

I am so glad when I was a kid I never went to a Catholic church except once and I did not feel comfortable in there and I wondered why until the big lawsuits came out about the molesting priests. Oh Catholic religion, how it has fallen but I am sure there are other churches out there that has the same issue. Oh my.. and it is more heard of with the Catholics because of the past.... :/
